Professor Dato' Dr. Mohd Yazid
Professor Dato’ Dr. Mohd Yazid Abd Manap is the current Director of Halal Products Research Institute, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and the university’s Senate member (2007-2015). He was formerly the Dean of the Faculty of Food Science and Technology, Universiti Putra Malaysia (2008-2014).
Prof Yazid obtained Bachelor of Science (1982) and Master of Science (1984) degrees from University of Minnesota, St. Paul-Minneapolis and a PhD (1989) from University of Glasgow, Scotland. Actively involved in research and graduate studies, he has published more than 150 articles in impactful journals, 9 patents and supervised more than 50 graduate students. He also served in various committees in the Ministry of Health, Standards Malaysia and the Ministry of Agriculture, Malaysia.
Prior to his tenure at UPM, he served several corporate organizations in Malaysia and Switzerland including the Department of Veterinary Services, Malaysia.
He was royally decorated by the Sultan of Selangor in 2013.
Prof Soo-Hoo Tuck Soon
Dr Soo-Hoo is undoubtedly an authority in his field of specialization. He is a proud holder of 3 degrees: B.Sc (Hons) from University of Bombay in 1961, M.Sc from University of New South Wales in 1963 and a Ph.D from University of Malaya in 1980.
A dedicated mycologist, he displays an excellent track record of 37 years of government service. During the course of his career, he served in various capacities such as Unit Head of Clinical Mycology, Mycobacteriology & Antinomycete, Consultant in Clinical Mycology and Medical Specialist in Microbiology at the University of Malaya. With his vast knowledge and valuable experience, he has been a prominent consultant with BP since 2000.
Ong Chiang Hock
Mr Ong has been part of BP Healthcare Group since 1992. He has assisted BP to achieve several ISO 9001 certifications, ISO/IEC 17025 laboratory accreditation and ISO 15189 accreditation for medical testing.
In 2004, he set up BP Food Testing Sdn Bhd to provide a comprehensive range of food microbiological testing and chemical analyses services.
He is a registered Medical Laboratory Technologist with Malaysian Institute of Medical Laboratory Sciences, and a registered Chemist with the Malaysian Institute of Chemistry since 1998. He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Biochemistry (Hons) from the National University of Malaysia in 1990. He trained at Hospital Lam Wah Ee Penang and the Institute for Medical Research (Kuala Lumpur).
Hoo Eng Ling
Food Testing Manager
Ms Hoo joined BP Food Testing as a Senior Microbiologist in 2008. She obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Conservation Biology (Genetics) from the National University of Malaysia in 1999. Prior to joining BP, she served in various food manufacturing businesses, notably Hong Kong Ban Kah Chai in Penang as a Quality Controller.
With her valuable experience in the food and pharmaceutical industry, she currently serves as the Lab Manager of BP Food Testing and is a signatory approved by Standards Malaysia.
Dr Ng Seah Young
Dr Ng Seah Young obtained his bachelor degree in Food Science (Food Technology and Bioprocessing) in 2009 and PhD in Food Science in 2018 from Universiti Malaysia Sabah.
His area of specialization is food microbiology. He published 3 international research journals, 1 book chapter and holds a patent.
